My Name is Efia and I am a mom of three beautiful kids. It was my love for people and understanding them that led me to get my sociology degree from York University. African Royalty allows me to interact with people from all walks of life who are interested in learning about African culture. I was born and raised in Canada and proud of it, however I was raised in a Ghanian household and identify strongly with the Ghanaian culture. Through frequent trips and teachings in our home my parents made sure that we would not lose our connection to their country. On every trip I would bring back pieces of Ghana to reminisce and share with my friends. My grandma was a merchant in Ghana bringing back gold and other accessories from the Obuasi gold mines to sell in the streets of Kumasi. My mom made sure to tell us stories about the trips her mom took, and all the goods she brought back. It was only fitting that I would follow her footsteps. African Royalty to me is an expression and representation of my culture, A way for me to share the beauty of Africa, the continent, with the world.
